My mother had always been a prodigious reader, sometimes buying a new novel every day and finishing it before bedtime. I decided to make this podcast so that I could read to my mother and help to keep her spirits up throughout the pandemic. I wanted to avoid stumbling my way through reading an entire book to her over the phone (I would never want to subject anyone to listening to me speak live, or even an unedited recording).
